dad and the dude part deux

grady had today off, so he did a little relaxing in the morning while the dude was at school.  then after nap time, daddy went to pick the dude up to play at the park.  don't know if life could get any better!!

so it's official...everyone uses the dog door EXCEPT for mojo!

dad and the dude

lucky for grady, he had the day off.  so he took full advantage of the day spent most of the morning in pjs....made a nice omelet breakfast for the two of them....had lunch and a nap....and then headed to frying pan park to burn off some afternoon energy.  good time had by all!

ps...the dude is still afraid of the rooster.  tractor was the safe place!

i heard it through the grapevine

that there's someone who REALLY likes raisins!  starts with a 'g' and ends in with 'm!'  and no...he doesn't like to share (hence the fakeout with grammie in the bottom two photos!

it was a quick visit, but we were happy to have grammie come over for a little bit after her long day at work.  graham was in unusual 'mom clingy' form and finally started warming up to grammie towards the end of her visit (of course!).  we ate raisins together, played on the floor, and even went to the playground.  

(milestone alert.....the dude went down the small and big spiral slide all by himself and didn't fall over!!!)

we were sad to see grammie leave, but hopefully we'll be seeing her again soon.

our besties, colleen and cormac, needed to use grady's car this morning to pick up a desk.  you know what that means.....the dudes besties were coming over to play!!!  we were planning on making cookies with everyone, but then bella and criostoir walked in with a dozen donuts AND donut holes (graham's donuts!)!!!  i guess was this payback for watching the dude last weekend?!  ;)

we got everyone at the table and graham devoured his first bites of donut with such delight!  donut holes are just the right size for him and man, oh, man.  he LOVED them!  limited to three donuts each, we then got to playing.

i think it's safe to say that everyone had a great time!

next time we'll hopefully have a sleepover.  it's cormac and colleen's turn for date night soon.

one step for mankind....one GIANT leap for momma sanner!  first night away from the dude!!!  grady and i realized we hadn't been on a date since right before graham was born.  it was time we take advantage of our best friends telling us to drop the dude off at their house so we can get away for a night and have fun together (thanks colleen and cormac!!!).  so we did!

and extra special thank you to grandma and grandpa who graciously let us use some of their points at the wyndham resort at the national harbor.  we weren't looking for anything fancy, just somewhere to sleep after a nice dinner and a few drinks.  WOAH.....we ended up in the two bedroom presidential suite!!!  "it's deluxe son!"

grady and i didn't know what to do with ourselves.  so much we forgot to even take a picture of the two of us in the room!  and unfortunately it was drizzling the night we were down at the harbor, so we didn't bring my camera with us and didn't capture any photos out either.  oh well, they're in our memory!

we had a nice dinner at cadillac ranch and then walked down to the irish pub down the street.  found a scotch that we both like drinking straight (dangerous!) and then headed back to the hotel.  wow...so this is what it feels like to relax a little!!

something tells me we'll be doing date night more often from here on out.  i think next on our list is king pinz in leesburg!

the graduate

my little dude is moving up in the world.  today marks his graduation day into the TODDLER ROOM!!!

oh my goodness.  no more playing with the babies anymore, he's one of the big kids now!

they've been slowly transitioning the dude into the toddler room for over a month now, so luckily he's used to the kids, teachers, etc.  some of the bigger things that change in the toddler room though are:

 - sleeping on cots (which apparently he does really with so far.  hasn't fallen off yet!)

 - eating snacks and lunch at the table in a chair (again, hasn't fallen off yet!)

 - more room to play!!!  they have stuff to climb and slide down on, a kitchen set, and an area outside the back door for them to go outside and play whenever it's nice weather out.  we LOVE fresh air!

the dude loves school so much now he never wants to leave when i pick him up!  seriously, he won't let go of the teachers and cries when i put his jacket on.  i don't know whether to be happy or sad about that!
