this development literally happened overnight.  she would hold her head up a little bit during tummy time. but now we're full on using our arms for support and holding our chest and head up for extended periods of time.  you go girl!

beach club

so the cool think about the development we live in is that they have a private beach club for all the residents to go to.  we weren't sure what to expect when we heard about it, but we figured it's only about 5 minutes from our house, so we would check it out.  but uhhhh, yeah, this is pretty awesome!

this was little miss' first experience with a large body of water too! she loved it.  was a little cold at first, but we all got used to it.  we even went underwater once and she did great. we're going to keep at that so she's an old pro in the water.

so the beach club is basically a sandy beach surrounding a pool that is no deeper than 4 feet or so in the middle.  there is a great splashpad next to the big pool beach part, plenty of chairs along the perimeter, and even little picnic pavillions that would be great for parties or if you were planning on staying all day.  what we also found out is you can bring canned beer and drink it there too! jackpot!

so we may not have a pool in our backyard...but we have a beach!

i still can't get over how much this guy loves his baby sister.  he always wants to be close to her and helping her do something, even if it is just hanging out!

but oh wait...who started holding their head up high for longer periods of time!

three months

 we have to wait until our 4 month visit for measurements, but you are definitely growing!

you're not sleeping through the night yet, but can get 3-4 hour stretches out of you most nights

i'm still doing the no dairy thing and you seem much better

first day of school

oh my goodness...my little miss is starting school today!  part of me is happy because i have a feeling she's going to love school just as much as graham, and the socialization will be good for her.  and then part of me is so sad because it's proof that she's growing up...too fast!!

we've met hannah's teachers before today, and just like kindercare, they are awesome.  and everyone seems to be in love with her already! from what we hear, there hasn't been a little little girl in the nursery for awhile.

i know someone who is happy that baby hannah is starting school.  yup...graham!  the nursery is right diagonally across from his room, and he's able to go and see her if he's feeling like he needs some hannah time. 

but one thing that i haven't gotten used to yet, that i'm guessing will take awhile, is the 530 wake up call!  yikes...this is very early!  coffee is going to be my friend i see! but in order to get hannah and graham up and fed, pump, eat breakfast myself, drop the kids off at school by 715 and then home by 730 to log into work (yup...i'm back to work!)...530 it is!  here's to hoping it gets easier!

first day

today was graham's first day at his new school, xplore.  thankfully this little guy was pretty excited for his first day.  i won't lie and say i wasn't worried about what the transition back to school would look like after 5 weeks off!  i can't wait to hear how his first day went!

we had talked to three different schools, and visited two of them. graham was with me at each and after we finished visiting the two i asked him which one he liked and which one he wanted to be his new school.  he picked xplore!  i'm glad he picked that one, because that's the one i liked better too!  

ALSO.......

happy anniversary to one of my other loves!  yes, today is our 7 year anniversary!  how has it already been 7 years?!  

and 7 monumental years at that:

 - bought a house

 - bought a dog

 - had a baby

 - had another baby

 - sold a house

 - moved to texas

 - bought a new house

i can't wait to start this new adventure in our lives and spend the next forever years with you!

move-in day!

today is the day...move-in day!!!

WOW, and what a crazy hectic day at that.  luckily grana and grampa were able to make it up (with all the animals) to help me since grady wasn't able to take off of work. there is NO WAY i would have been able to do this on my own with both kids.  

and who knew we had so much stuff!  but man...having a moving company do everything for you is the way to go!  i know we probably won't be that lucky again if we ever move.  but hopefully we won't have to go through that again anytime soon.  we're liking it already here and can't wait to get settled in.

2 months and a house closing!!

what a monumental milestone...

little miss, for your 2 month mark we got you the ultimate present....a HOUSE!  :)
yes, not only is it hannah's 2 month birthday, but our closing as well!!!

you had your 2-month well visit and everything looked great.  the doctor was very pleased with how you are growing and how you are such a happy baby!

finally!!

not sure what magic powder the clays have on their carpet...but it makes hannah fall asleep every time!!

hopefully this means she'll sleep on her back in the crib once we get it set-up in the new house.

first bottle

seeing as hannah will be going to daycare here shortly, we wanted to see how she would do with a bottle.  that way if she didn't like it, we had time to get her used to it.  yeah, so ummmmmm, girlfriend  didn't have any qualms!  she downed the bottle like an old pro.  i say it a lot, but this girl doesn't like to miss a meal!

happy birthday to me! 33!

the day started when grandpa and graham took mojo for a walk and graham came back with blue bonnets for me!  then we decided to head down to the zoo.  we got up close and personal with a hippos behind, and saw some other really cool animals.  on the way back, while the kiddos snoozed, grana took me to the boot store for my very first pair of real cowboy boots!  love them!!  then it was back home for dinner and a dip in the pool!

and what birthday wouldn't be complete without cake!  a carrot cake nonetheless!  yummy!

4 weeks

how is this even possible?  slow down time!!

they apparently don't do 1 month well-visits in texas, so i won't know what your stats are, but you are definitely growing.

your eyes are still blue and your hair is still darkish

you are eating every 2 hours or so during the day, and on average at night, every 3 hours

and pretty much right after you eat you go right back to sleep.  you like to sleep a lot!

speaking of sleep, you're really only getting up once in the night to eat (thank you!)

you're wearing size 0-3 month clothes

you're in size 1 diapers

you really only cry if you're hungry, wet or tired

you DO NOT like sleeping on your back, so you have been sleeping next to my side of the bed since birth in your rocker/sleeper

you love being held and love to snuggle up close and fall asleep on my chest

your binkie is magic!  it soothes and comforts you almost immediately

you are smiling and i love seeing all of them

you think you're brother is pretty interesting and like to look at him

the great adventure begins

just shy of three weeks old and we things are getting packed at the house and i am heading on an adventure with both kids...SOLO...on an airplane to TEXAS!!!  the new chapter of our lives is about to begin.  i am super excited, but also super scared, sad and anxious.  

we planned for me and the kids to fly to san antonio as the packers were packing everything so that we didn't have to sleep on air mattresses and whatnot.  thank you miss colleen for dropping us off.  it really didn't sink in that we were leaving our house until colleen said "i'll put the kids in the car, you say goodbye to your house."  yup, waterworks began.  

this was the house we bought right after we were married.  the house we brought both kids home to.  the house we first laughed in, cried in, argued in and made up in.  so many good memories, it was hard to hug grady, tell him i'll see him in texas and get in the car.  but we did.  we will be making plenty of new memories in this new chapter ahead of us.

this picture of colleen and graham will forever be imprinted in my brain.  as well as the crying and hugging we did at the security gate entrance.  it was bittersweet, but i know i'll be seeing this face again soon!  we're already looking into cheap flights!  :)

luckily there were not a lot of people there on a thursday morning.  so we walked to our gate to burn some energy and when we got there it was time for hannah to eat.  graham kind of walked on the seats like a madman, but he stayed relatively in one place, so i didn't care.  i had plenty of bribes, so he didn't go too far!

of course our plan was late, so this only prolonged this scary part of adventure.  graham was getting tired and ended up falling asleep on one of the chairs RIGHT before we were about to board.  GREAT!  woke him up to walk with me since i couldn't carry him.  of  course it wasn't a plane that you walk on from the gate ramp...no, we had to walk down stairs, put our luggage on a cart and then walk up super narrow stairs to get into the plane.  a nice man asked if i needed help...i actually responded YES!  although i was putting the stroller down and he didn't know how to help.  he stood there until i got it down.  i kindly said 'thank you.'  he replied, 'no need to thank me, i didn't actually do anything.'  my response, 'yes, you did.  i just needed the support.'  we both smiled and then got on the plane.

wasn't sure how hannah would do on the plane since this was the first flight for her...yes, at 20 days old!  i knew graham would probably be fine with his ipad and snacks.  hannah fell asleep pretty instantly on the plane and graham was content during take off and into the flight.  about halfway through i had to nurse hannah (that was fun!) and then graham fell asleep.  YEAH!  and by some grace of god, they both stayed asleep the rest of the flight!  i was so thankful as i didn't want to be the mother with two screaming kids on an airplane. 

LANDED (after somewhat of a bumpy ride there in the middle...i was actually happy the kids were asleep.  i got a little nervous, so i can only imagine how scared they would have been)!!!!  our 8 hour flying adventure we were finally in texas!!!  grana and grampa were waiting for us with signs, flowers and toys.  we were so happy to see them.

so for now, we will be broadcasting live from TEXAS!

yee haw!

one week old!!

can you believe it!  ONE WEEK already!!!  how did that happen.  time is moving at warp speed it seems.  guess it doesn't help knowing we'll be moving to texas in a little over a week as well.  our world is a little chaotic right now, but we all seem to be handling it well!

some things to note:

had our first well visit and we have lost a little weight, but grown an inch since being born!

little miss does not like sleeping on her back AT ALL!  thank goodness for the bouncy chair on the side of the bed!

had one long stretch of sleep at home, but since then it's been back to normal eating about every 2 hours

loves getting loved by her big brother.  

still has darker hair and blue eyes.  we'll see if the blue eyes stay.

sucks on her fists if she doesn't have her binkie.

first outing

i knew while i still had grana at our house i was going to use her help to motivate me to get out of the house with hannah.  so out we went!  had to bundle up as it was pretty darn cold!

heading home

3 nights and 4 days in the hospital, and as much as i loved my doctor and all my nurses, i am so glad to be heading home.  it will feel good to sleep in my own bed and eat some good home cooked food (thanks grana!).  

we were greeted with an exuberant welcome from mojo who rushed our car, and graham helped daddy carry baby hannah into the house.  

to say graham was excited to have his baby home is an understatement.  he was also happy that her homecoming also meant he would be able to eat cake with dinner!!  well and i would be lying if i said i wasn't a little worried about the jealousy that's about to come, but so far he has nothing but love for her and hasn't acted out.

introducing our new little wee one....hannah!!

it was a very early morning for all.  we had to be at the hospital by 5:30 (yes that's AM) as i would be going back to the OR at 7:30.  as i was in triage getting ready for our little one's arrival i found it odd that both the nurses and my doctor were asking me if i was in pain.  i knew i was having contractions, but they didn't hurt, so no...no pain.  then my doctor said "this is just what i would have liked to have happen!"  so i'm guessing that means our little hannah was making plans to make an appearance on her own in the near future.  

7:30 and i walk back to the OR.  i get prepped and get the epidural and am ready for go time.  i felt like it took an eternity for grady to get back to the room, but i was so glad when he got there.  my stomach didn't do well with the anesthesia at first, but once they got the dosage right everything felt much better.  

but man o man...this little girl DID NOT want to come out!  they were pushing and pulling her out for what felt like 10 minutes!  again, something tells me she was engaged and ready to come out on her own.  we had other plans for her!  then at 8:07 am our little miss was born!!
