we are so excited....grana is here!!!

she flew in just for the little dude's birthday.

unfortunately grampa couldn't come this time, but we'll make sure he comes out the next time!  ;)  well and no worries...we'll be seeing all of you texas hertels in a few weeks!

grana bought the dude a new book with touch and feel animals.  he especially loves the last page...the baby hedgehog!  it's the spikey side of velcro.  too cute!

it's a mustache bash!

so this is a shameless plug for myself, but i'm pretty proud of the cute invitation i designed for the little dude's birthday.  hand drew the mustache and tie!  and i'm usually a pretty big self critic of my work, but this was an exception.  i think it turned out even better than what i saw in my head!!  

can't wait!!!

the disappearing dude!

peek-a-boo is by far one of the dude's favorite games.  he recently figured out he can use his plate when he's done eating to 'hide' behind.  i think it's hilarious how he smushes his face up against the back of the plate.  and i'm not sure if he's trying to say peek-a-boo or not, but maybe 'a-de-de-de' is how he says it?!

florida family

we love our florida family so much!!!  and we're happy to have a new addition to the sanner family soon. a big congratulations to colin and stephanie who are officially engaged!!

and i'm SO happy that we got such a good family picture of the three of us.

home sweet home

as much fun as we had in florida, the dude was happy to be home as well.  it was like christmas all over again.  he had played with so many different toys in florida, the ones he had at home were like new again!

i think he was also happy to be able to stretch his legs.  :)

so long, farewell

unfortunately it's sunday, and that means we have to head home today.  :(

it also means i was stressing a little (not as much as the way down though) thinking about how graham was going to be on the plane.  the only reason why i was worried was because he slept the entire way to the airport....hmmmm....would he sleep on the plane?!

we again, munched on some melon and cereal before getting on the plane.  i had my bottle of milk ready for take off, and away we went.  he was definitely a little squirmier this time around, but we turned on yo gabba gabba and within 30 minutes or so the dude was fast asleep again.

the lady sitting next to us definitely wasn't as cool as the lady coming down to florida.  i could tell she was a little apprehensive about sitting next to the three of us.  but to her surprise, it was the kids in the row in front of us that were the loud ones!  graham didn't make a peep, and then he was asleep for the second half of the flight.  take that lady!!!

i got my bottle ready for the descent, but as you can see from the picture below, yeah....didn't need it.  the dude didn't wake up while we were descending, landing, or deplaning!!  he was wiped out!!

we all had a blast hanging out with everyone though and can't wait until we can do it again soon!

kool kousins!!

the little dude has some pretty 'kool kousins,' kaelin and kamrin!!!

i don't know what he's going to do when we get back home.  he's going to be so bored!  he had so much fun playing with both of them, reading books, playing in the ocean, visiting kaelin's school, and having his very first hot dog with them!

the dude is very lucky to have cousins like you.  can't wait until we see you again!!

beach cookout

couldn't have asked for better weather for our sanner family beach cookout!  80's, sunny and a slight breeze.  oh yeah...and the water temperature was about 78!!!  perfect!

we all met at the beach around 2 and commenced to play in the ocean.  the dude, once again, loved everything about the ocean, and was even crawling towards it!!  his appetite for sand was still there.  at least until i think he actually tasted it.  then it was hard for him to get the sand out of his mouth, with sand on his hands!  funny!

the dude got knocked over a couple times by some waves and didn't drink too much seawater, but i think it was enough for him to realize the ocean is stronger than him!  after the two fairly big tumbles and wash outs, he decided to just crawl around on the sand and play with his rake.  fine with me!!!  

we were going to make sure to put him in the water before we left so he could remember how awesome the ocean was, but yeah....dude wiped out!!!

and grady has mad skills on a steal of a deal charcoal grill on the beach.  even with wind. he cooked up some mighty delicious hamburgers and hotdogs.  thanks hun!!!

how did CB know that peek-a-boo was one of the dude's favorite games!!!

field trip

it was a scorcher today, but we decided to get out for a little bit and walk down to our two favorite spots.

first stop....surfers!!  best bar in cocoa beach!!!  

(disclaimer:  we were there right around noon, and were the only ones in there at the time, so there was no cigarette smoke.)  

adam, guy in the black shirt, is the owner of the bar and is probably one of the coolest people we've met down here.  every time we walk into the bar we're treated like family not only by him, but by the other bartenders as well.  oh...and did i mention the AWESOME lineup of draft beer, killer jukebox and quarter pool tables that they have!!!  wish we had a place like this up near us.  guess it wouldn't make surfers as special when we visit the sanner clan though.

second stop...the art shop!  best art and frame shop in cocoa beach!!!

just a few blocks down from surfers is the art shop that colin runs solo (now that dad is retired!!).  it was nice and cool in there, so we were happy to get a break from the heat before we had to trek back to star and tommy's.  the dude had a good time hanging out with CB.  maybe that means he has art in his blood!

goofing around

since the dude is still taking two naps during the day, it's been a little tricky timing going to the beach at the right time where he won't roast like a thanksgiving turkey!  no worries though, the dude has just as much inside playing with his cousins kaelin and kamrin, as he does playing outside at the beach.

the dude learned how to write the letter 'G' (okay, well maybe kaelin just showed him how SHE could write the letter 'G'), made some soup and got his favorite book read to him by kamrin (sesame street 'bubbles bubbles').

we also caught a few moments where the dude was being the ham that he is!  oh...and if anyone is looking for a good gift....a pop up tunnel.  he absolutely loved crawling back and forth through it.  greatest thing since sliced bread!

the view

there's not much bad talking you can do about florida.  you can't really complain about sunny skies, slight breezes, seagulls cawing, waves crashing and the smell of salt in the air!  yeah...sounds good to me.  and there is definitely nothing we can complain about where star, tommy, kaelin and kamrin live!  their condo is AWESOME!!

beach time!!!!!  

today we ventured out to the beach for the dudes VERY FIRST time!!  he was very intrigued by the noise and smell of the ocean.  he couldn't stop looking at it and when we put him down, he loved it even more.  first wave came and it was a little strong.  no worries.  he took it like a champ.  his legs got a little buried in the sand, which helped him get his footing in the sand.  

of course the second thing he did, after splashing in the waves, was try to eat sand!  :)  i know it's going to happen a million more times while we're here, but i did try to stop it while i could.  

we were very happy with how everything went though.  no freakouts and no crying.  he absolutely loved the beach and we're looking forward to bringing him back tomorrow.  we just did a short trip today to test the waters.

looks like the entire sanner and hertel family kids are fishes!!!

welcoming committee

thank you to our welcoming committee.  i don't think a boy could have as much fun as he did after traveling for 4 hours!

and boy were we glad to see everyone!

up, up and away!

yes, so i have been paranoid about today for the past couple weeks.  calling miss sarah to ask her what we can and can't do flying with an infant (thanks for all the answers!!).  luckily we timed the dude's first flight at the perfect time.  right around the time he has lunch and a nap.  so we were hoping luck would be on our side and he would do well with the trip.

we munched on some melon before the flight.

and then got ready for take-off!

i had a bottle ready so that the dude could clear his ears.  worked like a charm!  no crying, whining or wiggling!  once we got up in the air we turned on some yo gaba gaba (on mute, so we didn't annoy the nice lady beside us) and in about 25-30 minutes the dude was OUT!  and he slept until we started descending!!!!

thank you thank you thank you first time infant traveling gods!!!  hopefully our luck will continue on the way back.  we definitely wouldn't mind a repeat performance of today!

book worm

i hope this continues, but the dude seems to be a little book worm.  he's aways crawling over to his bookshelf and pulling out every single book to look at.  the sesame street beginning books seem to be his favorite at the moment.  oh, and an 'over in the meadow' book that i got from a consignment show because it has foam animals in the back that he can play with while i read it to him.

one month away from being ONE!!!

time slow down!!!  i only have one mere month left to call my little dude....my baby!!!  come october 22nd, the little dude will become a BIG little dude!

we didn't have a well visit for you this month, but we did happen to be at the doctors right around today and we have one stat:

weight: 24 lbs!!!

(this was a solo photo shoot and i had a wiggle worm on my hands!!)

here's what you've been up to this month as well:

 - still wearing size 4 diapers during the day and 5's at night

 - your bedtime is normally around 730 and then you typically wake up around 645-7.

 - taking two naps, averaging 1.5 hours each

 - got 2 more teeth this month for a total of 4 pearly whites in that cute little mouth of yours!

 - have a couple more words in your vocabulary: dada, baba (although he's been saying this one for awhile...think i just left it out of the 10 month update) and tata.

 - figured out how to make a stinky face

 - you LOVE to smile at people and you LOVE to laugh

 - pretty much understands what 'hands off' means.  now, whether you take your hands off or not, that's a different story!

 - slept through your first 5.8 magnitude earthquake!

 - figured out your dino walker within seconds and you cruise around all the time now

 - not walking on your own yet, but your definitely crawling around, pulling up and walking around holding onto something like a mad man!

 - discovered how fun swings at the playground are

 - still love all your wooden blocks, oh, and rudy's feather toy!

- you have a couple new favorite foods: squash nuggets and spinach nuggets (thanks lisa for the recipes!)

 - pretty much have the hang of drinking water or juice from a sippy cup
 - went to your first farm and saw your very first farm animals (pigs, rooster (didn't like the rooster!!), goats, bunnies and peacocks)
