funkin punkins!

it's that time of year!!  one of my favorites indeed!
PUNKIN TIME!!!!

we were debating going to a couple different farms, pumpkinville, etc. but i'm glad we ended up holding off.  we LOVE the meadows farms down the street from us.  moon bounce, hay bale maze and super fast (and fun) tube slide!  and the best part....it was all FREE!

the dude had a blast and picked out a couple punkins to go with mommy's bigger one.
hmmmm....now comes the bigger question....what to carve on them!

i might be a little biased....but man, the dude looks good in orange!

bippity boppity boo!

so remember these posts??

welllllll, we had flowers, but no fruit.  the plant actually shriveled up and i gave up hope on a pumpkin for my dude that year.  not like i had anything else on my mind back in 2010!!

SOOOOOOOO....two years later......voila!!!

volunteer punkin!  :)
looks like we won't be buying any this year!!

thank you grana and grampa for not pulling my two volunteer plants out of the garden when you were planting all of our other veggie plants.

weeds-b-gone

for probably the last month or so i have been lacking in weeding my vegetable and flower gardens. we've either been traveling on the weekend, it rains or it's just too darn hot. and maybe it's me just starting my nesting actions, but i couldn't stand looking at my poor gardens being overtaken by weeds anymore. so this morning i was up at 7:30 to take mojo on a walk, ate breakfast and then by about 9am i was out in the garden. an hour and a half later in the 90 degree heat my gardens were perfect!! not a weed in site! of course, now my back is paying the price. ouch! no pain no gain though right!

and how my "little" pumpkin vine is starting to creep throughout the garden. there are some flowers on it, so i'm hoping to see a sign of fruit soon!!

little punkin

this is the second year i have planted a garden in our backyard. i decided to plant roma tomatoes and mammoth jalepeno's again since they did so well last year. i'm looking forward to some homemade salsa again too! and since the bell peppers didn't so so hot last year i decided to change up that part of the garden. i wasn't sure what i was going to do until i was walking through the nursery.

a pumpkin vine!!

so just as my belly is blooming and growing, so will our chickadude's first punkin! this was the first flower on the vine.
hopefully we'll get at least one good one out of the vine.
