25 weeks

well, gained another two pounds since last month.  not too shabby! (especially with halloween candy being consumed over the past month!)
the doctor is very happy with how i'm progressing.  crazy to think i'll start going to the doctor every two weeks soon!  how time flies!
the ultrasound doctor hasn't moved my due date, but let's say with recent measurements...i'm not so positive if i'll make it to my due date!
she's still a little busy body in my tummy though.  especially after that tasty lime/mint sparkling water i'm in love with.  so much that grady has now felt her kick and graham has SEEN her kick in my belly!  i didn't even have to ask graham if he saw her.  he pointed to my belly and was like....was that it!
i'll often times have graham say good morning to the baby and i love you.  i will permanently burn the image into my brain when he was saying good morning to little miss, lifted my shirt a bit, and kissed my belly.  he truly is a sweet sweet little boy.

21 weeks

yup....even bigger!
energy has pretty much come back, and i'm enjoying not feeling like a walking zombie
in addition to being addicted to lime mint sparkling water, i've also been craving red grapes
little miss is ACTIVE!  especially right after i've eaten dinner or drink a lot.
i feel like she's sitting a lower than graham was during this time
only gained 2 pounds so far...so i'm pretty darn happy with that!
apparently when we had our last ultrasound, little miss was measuring 6 days larger than expected.  no, that doesn't mean my due date will be moved up...just means she might be bigger than graham!
i've packed away all my normal clothes and have switched the closet to all maternity clothes
blood pressure was so good at my last doctors appointment, that now i'm down to taking my medicine just once a day instead of twice.  YEAH!!

under construction

we were so lucky to have grana, grampa, great grandma, great grandpa and aunt sue at our house over the holiday weekend to help us put our nursery together. we had a full docket:

before everyone got here we had to empty the room, get the carpet installed and then patch some holes from where the headboard in the bedroom used to be.

then, on friday we had to pick up the glider/rocker/recliner.

saturday grady and grampa sanded, primed and painted the spots that needed it in the nursery. while they were doing that, grana, sue and i worked on getting the fabric covered cornice board made. of course we had to go out and get a curtain that matched the cornice board and then got everything up and on the wall. first on the construction docket was the glider/rocker/recliner. piece of cake! we all went to dinner and when we got home it was crib construction time for grady and grampa while us ladies surpervised.

not much left for sunday but put the dresser together! as you can see rudy made sure to supervise and make sure everything was put together correctly.

thank you all for every ounce of love you put into our nursery. who knows when all of this would have gotten done if we didn't have all the help. graham is one lucky chickadude and now has a one of a kind nursey!

so long second trimester

23 weeks!! the last week of my second trimester.

i quite liked the "honeymoon" trimester. for the most part i was in a good mood. i was only getting up once in the night. could sleep for long periods of time on one side. no leg pains or cramps. have had no problems doing most pilates moves. was able to go shopping for longer than 1-hour spurts. still fit in some pre-pregnancy t-shirts. developed an even bigger sweet tooth. appetite has slightly increased where i have to eat small snacks throughout the day now. have only gained 11 pounds total so far. blood pressure continues to hover right around a normal 120/80 (most of the times its lower than that now!!). felt chickadude moving around a lot more, even on the outside! found out we were having a chickaDUDE! decided on the best name - Graham Alexander (i might be a little biased though).

looking forward to what my third trimester will bring!

wine-oh!

this weekend we headed out to the shenandoah mountains to meet up with grana, grampa, grandma and grandpa. it had been MANY years since i had been back to the timeshare we always go to there, shenandoah crossing, and boy has it changed! the new cabins were great and the pool was a definite improvement as well. i think the next time we visit we might have to check out the new yurts they have built. they looked very cool.

being in wine country, we all decided to take a mini winery tour. we started at horton winery, next headed to branley and then rounded out the trip with barboursville vineyards. even though i couldn't try any of the wines, i did smell a few and some of them smelled REALLY good. maybe for my 30th bday we can head back so i can taste a few wines!!

nesting #1

the carpet in the nursey was in pretty bad shape when we moved into our house. the previous tenants had spilled orange paint on the carpet and it looked like some wax on the carpet as well. lovely! so when we found out we were pregnant we knew we had to do something with the flooring in the room. so grady talked to his carpet guy from work adn we were able to get a really good deal. woo hoo!!

the new carpet looks awesome and we can't wait to see what it looks like with all the furniture and decor in the room. nesting has begun and the room is starting to come together!

it's log!

if you don't know about readymade magazine then you should definitely check it out. they have some very cool, and usually very easy, diy projects. and most of them use recycled materials....like this end table that i was thinking of making!! they must have had esp this week!

my parents have a very cool rustic log bench in front of their fish pond that i was going to ask them to see if the same place they got it from had end tables. but now i think i can skip that!! how cute would this be next to my chocolate brown rocker/glider in a woodland/forest themed nursery!!! i love it!!! anyone know of a good lumber yard?

hide and seek

as most of you know, our theme for the nursery is woodland/forest animals. i thought it would be easy to find fabric with squirrels, foxes, owls, etc. not so much! most of the ones we found were either too girly or we just didn't like them. until i spotted this one!!!

i had seen a picture of it online when i was searching for fabric, but never knew where to get it. after some careful researching mom and i found place who had it and we snatched it all up! so this will be our crib skirt and fabric covered cornice board for the nursery. i love it so much! i think i might even paint some canvases with the "windows" and animals to hang on the wall.

happy father-to-be day!

this father's (to be) day was pretty great. grady was able to sleep in, while i was able to weed my gardens. grady helped our friend steve take our extra bed out of the nursery and helped him deliver it, while i went grocery shopping and made some gifts. neither one of us had to make dinner...oven baked pizza it was. then it was time for some laying on the couch and watching a movie.

it was what happened during the movie that was the best part of this father's (to be) day.....
......
................
...grady felt our little chickadude move for the first time!!!!

brownie points for chickadude! :) i was the best present he could have gotten.

little punkin

this is the second year i have planted a garden in our backyard. i decided to plant roma tomatoes and mammoth jalepeno's again since they did so well last year. i'm looking forward to some homemade salsa again too! and since the bell peppers didn't so so hot last year i decided to change up that part of the garden. i wasn't sure what i was going to do until i was walking through the nursery.

a pumpkin vine!!

so just as my belly is blooming and growing, so will our chickadude's first punkin! this was the first flower on the vine.
hopefully we'll get at least one good one out of the vine.

halfway there

okay, so i know i've said this a million times already....but WHAT, i'm 20 weeks pregnant now!!! WOW! halfway there. i honestly can't believe it. i count my blessings that i have had such an easy pregnancy so far. there is no produce shot this week, but it's crazy that our little chickadude is the size of a cantalope now! growing, growing, growing!

20 week recap:

only been sick once!
only gained 4 pounds
waking up between 1 and 2 every morning to pee
gotten much better about sleeping on my side
have to have ice cream every night!
bagel pizzas are one of my favorite lunches
LOVE going to friday night pilates with the girls, and wegmans afterwards for dinner
maternity clothes are a must now
found out our chickadee....is a chickaDUDE!
appetite has definitely increased this past week or so
always feeling movements when i'm relaxing on the couch
decided that woodland/forest animals will be our nursery theme

getting comfy cozy

awhile back grady and i were able to score an awesome deal on our crib and dresser for the nursery. the boxes are currently sitting in our living room waiting for grandpa to help assemble at the end of june! we're happy with the dark colored wood since it will match our woodland/forest creature theme. but, before we can get anything assembled, we have to replace the carpet in the room first. so it's going to be a busy june!
today was very exciting as well, as i finally was able to pick out my glider! woo hoo!! and not only is it a glider, it's a rocker and recliner as well. oh yeah, and it swivels too! the fabric i picked out is a chocolate microsuede-type fabric that only needs to be cleaned with water. major plus!! it is so comfortable and i already know i'll be spending many nights sleeping in this chair with our chickadude.

i can't wait until everything comes together. it's so exciting!!

anchors away

19 weeks = week of the mango. and it just so happened that star was making a mango salsa over the weekend. the fresh fruit/veggie comparison photo might have to be a regular occurance now. it's crazy to think our little chickadude (yes, new nickname) is that big already. no wonder i'm starting to feel "pregnant"...

...seeing as the bump is definitely growing!

user error!

so apparently i had the big reveal movie set to private when it should have been public. why didn't someone say something! :) chickadude is sucking brain cells at a rapid rate, so no worries, i wouldn't have been offended! haha!

well all is fixed and you should be able to actually watch the little movie i put together for your viewing pleasure. enjoy!

the big reveal

stats:
measuring 2 days larger than expected due date (10/29)
heartbeat was 153 per min
saw all 4 chambers of the heart
kidneys looked healthy
stomach was full, so chickadee is swallowing normally
got a little punching and waving action during our visit
legs were cooperative and we found out our little chickadee is A BOY!

we are so happy, and i'm thrilled to know that my motherly intuition didn't let me down! :) we are also happy to see that everything is progressing as they should be and all the doctors keep telling me is "we're happy with everything, so just keep doing what you've been doing." always something nice to hear!

we can't wait to see your precious face little man!
